For this assignment, you will be creating a treasure chest of items representing your explorer. You will choose your explorer and put the project together in class. Soon, you will be given a fact sheet for research and can use the library, computer, or textbook to do your research.
*You will need to create a treasure chest. The chest needs to be decorated and will have your explorer’s name on it. Remember, it must be large enough to hold everything below.
*You will need to make a map on a 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper showing the route that your explorer took. The map must include color, a title, a compass, the continents, and the route the explorer took. Please label your map.
*You will need to include 2 “ artifacts” that represent the reason or reasons for exploration. For example, if your explorer went in search of gold, include something that represents gold such as gold painted rock.
* You will need to include a flag of the country for which your explorer sailed . You will use a piece of 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper to create your flag.
*You will need to write a three paragraph report about your explorer. You can type it or write it neatly on lined paper. Use your own words.
Paragraph 1- Background information: the explorer’s birth, early years, name of the country the Explorer represented, and the reason why he explored.
Paragraph 2- Contributions/Achievements and any other information an interested person would want to know.
Paragraph 3- What are YOUR thoughts about your explorer? Support your opinion with evidence.
*You will need to make a bibliography- make sure you write down books and websites you use.
*You will need to choose one or do both:
* Make a timeline for your explorer on a blank 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper. Include your explorer’s birth, death, and five important dates involving his expedition. This timeline should be decorated or illustrated.
* Write a letter from your explorer to someone back home explaining his adventure. Include places he went on the journey, any people he met, and all the events that happened on the expedition.
